The active walker is being developed for patients with lower limb disabilities to support their walking practice for the purpose of rehabilitation. The patient is seated in an active walker with the harness attached to the body. By moving the seat, the patient is lifted up and placed in an unloaded condition. Thigh pads are placed on their legs. Artificial muscles actively move the legs and support repeat walking motion. Repeated training may reduce the hip contractures and promote flexion and extension of the hip joint.
